MLP Software, LLC ("MLP Software", "we", "us", or "our") develops WindowThis ("WindowThis", the "App") — a Windows utility that creates shareable views of desktop regions or combined application windows. This Privacy Policy explains what the App and our related website process, how we use it, and the choices you have.

Overview
WindowThis processes screen content locally on your computer to render live output windows. We do not upload your screen, window contents, or documents to our servers as part of normal capture.
Network traffic from the App is limited to license activation, validation, and deactivation (via Lemon Squeezy) and, unless you disable it, anonymous product analytics (PostHog).
Product analytics (PostHog)
When analytics are enabled, we send anonymous, explicitly defined events only. We do not enable PostHog session recording or automatic capture of UI interactions. Analytics are enabled by default where legally permitted. You may disable them at any time in Settings → Privacy → Share Anonymous Usage Analytics.
What we collect when analytics are on
- Application usage: application launches, application version, and operating system information.
- Feature usage: which screens or features are accessed (for example Capture, Windows, Settings, About, License), and basic product events such as creating a shared view (capture mode and normalized size, monitor layout, edition, and whether a view exceeds the Free size limit).
- Error reporting: anonymous error categories (for example capture failed, licensing error) — not raw error messages or stack traces.
What we do not collect
We do not intentionally collect:
- Names, email addresses, or contact information through analytics
- License keys or activation identifiers tied to analytics
- Filenames, document contents, window titles, or screen contents
- Screenshots or recordings of your desktop
Licensing data
When you activate WindowThis Pro, the App communicates with Lemon Squeezy to validate your license key and register this device. That traffic includes licensing metadata required for activation — never screen content. License state is stored locally on your device.
How we use data
Analytics are used only to improve WindowThis (reliability, usability, and product decisions). We do not use analytics for advertising.
Third parties
- Lemon Squeezy — payment processing, license keys, and activation limits when you purchase a paid edition.
- PostHog — anonymous product analytics when enabled. See PostHog’s privacy information.
Your choices
- Turn off analytics in Settings → Privacy at any time; new events stop immediately.
- Your preference is saved on this device and kept across updates.
Regional requirements
Anonymous usage analytics are enabled by default. You can turn them off at any time under Settings → Privacy. If your local laws require you not to share this type of data without prior consent, disable analytics there before use.
Website
This website is a static product page hosted by MLP Software. It does not use the same analytics pipeline as the desktop App unless separately noted.
